Ingredients
1/4 cup (60g) active sourdough starter | 1 1/2 cups (360ml) water |
4 cups (500g) bread flour | 2 tsp salt |

Preparation
- Feed your starter 4–8 hours before mixing dough.
- In a large bowl, mix starter, water, and flour. Let rest 30 minutes.
- Add salt and mix to form a sticky dough.
Cooking
- Let dough rise at room temperature for 12–18 hours.
- Shape into a round loaf and let rise 1–2 hours.
- Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C) with a Dutch oven inside.
- Score loaf and bake covered for 20 minutes, then uncovered for 25 minutes.
Serving
- Cool completely before slicing.
- Serve with butter, cheese, or as sandwich bread.
Notes & Tips
- For a more sour flavor, extend the first rise to 24 hours.
