Ingredients

1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
1 cup (200g) sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/3 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking powder
Optional: 1/2 cup (90g) chocolate chips or chopped nuts

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8 inch (20x20 cm) baking pan or line with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the butter and let cool slightly. In a bowl, mix melted butter and sugar until combined.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well.
  4. Sift in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Stir until just combined.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips or nuts if using.

Cooking

  1. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
