Thick slices of bread (brioche or challah recommended) 8 slices
Large eggs 4
Whole milk 1 cup
Heavy cream 1/2 cup
Sugar 2 tbsp

Ground cinnamon 1/2 tsp
Salt 1/4 tsp

French Toast is a beloved breakfast classic that involves slices of bread soaked in a mixture of eggs, milk, and spices, then fried to golden perfection. Often served with a dusting of powdered sugar, a drizzle of maple syrup, and fresh fruit, French Toast is a comforting and indulgent morning treat that’s perfect for any day of the week.

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  2. Preheat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a tablespoon of butter to melt.
  3. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are well-coated but not soaked through.
  4. Place the coated bread slices onto the hot skillet. Cook until the bottom is golden brown, about 2-3 minutes, then flip and cook the other side until golden brown, about 2-3 more minutes.
  5. Remove the French toast from the skillet and keep warm. Repeat with the remaining slices, adding more butter to the skillet as needed.
  6. Serve the French toast hot, dusted with powdered sugar and topped with maple syrup and fresh berries.
